Ancient Etruscan tombs found by accident during road work. Nice examples of Greek Hellenistic inspired Etruscan funerary art in local materials. The main tomb complex (hypogeum) is located in main building (ticket office) with numerous examples of funerary urns from site. There is a small museum nearby (with bathroom) with finds from other parts of the necropolis and an interactice "dining in ancient Etruscan world" area with reproductions of drinking cups and other vessels that visitors can handle. A bar/cafe is located across street from main building. Parking is a bit further down road from main building. It is on a curvy state highway, so watch out for cars especially with kids.
Interesting site. We were no allowed to go inside the tomb due to the Corona situation, but you can have a peek at it.
Amazing place and way to learn more about the history of Umbria
It is worth to visit this museum especially if you are interested in ancient history.
Da vedere! While there are no original documents of the Etruscans, the urns and mausoleum built in the shape of an Etruscan house give insignt into this civilization. Recommend seeing this with the National Archeological Museum of Umbria in Perugia and the Etruacan Well, a 2,270 year-old engineering feat! This museum and the well are dog friendly!!
Fabulous discovery of ancient burial sites. €3 entrance price is well worth it.
A very special Etruscan monument, a sepulchral vault and a necropolis. Small but mysterious, despite the highway above... It's worth to visit this place.
Very interesting funerary findings. Very helpful to understand a little the Etruscan civilization.
